Privacy Policy

Maketember is a free, follow-along maker event run by CNC Files. We keep data collection to the minimum the site needs to work. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

The short version

• You don't need an account, and voting is anonymous.
• We don't run ads, don't use analytics trackers, and never sell your data.
• The only personal information we hold is what you type into the sponsor inquiry form.
• Giveaway entries are handled by Gleam, a third-party service with its own privacy policy.

What we collect and why

Voting

Community voting works without an account. To count each device's votes once, we set a cookie containing a random identifier (see our Cookie Policy). That identifier is random — it is not derived from you or your device and doesn't identify you personally.

As light abuse protection, we also keep a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address alongside votes. Your actual IP address is never stored with your votes and cannot be recovered from the hash.

Sponsor inquiries

If you submit the sponsorship form, we store what you enter — company or brand name, contact name, email address, and (optionally) website — and use it only to respond to your inquiry and manage the sponsorship. We don't add you to marketing lists.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. These are retained briefly and not used to profile visitors.

Third-party services

• Gleam — giveaway entries are collected and managed by Gleam. When you open or use the giveaway entry widget, or follow a giveaway link, the information you provide goes to Gleam under the Gleam Privacy Policy. Giveaway winners are contacted using the details provided through Gleam.
• Google Fonts — the site's fonts load from Google's servers, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• Outbound links — links to YouTube, sponsors, and stores (some of which are affiliate links) take you to sites we don't control, with their own privacy practices.

How long we keep things

Vote records are anonymous and are kept for the duration of the event and its wrap-up. Sponsor inquiry details are kept as long as needed to handle the inquiry and any resulting sponsorship, then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. For sponsor inquiries, email us and we'll take care of it. Votes aren't tied to your identity, so we have no way to look up which votes are yours.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be noted on the site.
